A rich, velvety dark chocolate mousse made from creamy avocado, raw cacao, and naturally sweet Medjool dates. Rich in healthy monounsaturated fats and naturally occurring plant compounds, it provides a deeply satisfying chocolate treat without refined sugars or dairy.
Ingredients
- 2 large ripe avocados (peeled and pitted)
- ⅓ cup raw cacao powder (unsweetened)
- 6 Medjool dates (pitted and soaked in warm water for 10 minutes)
- ½ cup homemade almond milk or coconut milk
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 pinch of fine sea salt
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- A tiny pinch of ground chili (optional)
For Topping:
- 2 tbsp toasted crushed hazelnuts or pistachios
- Fresh raspberries or pomegranate seeds
- Fresh mint leaves
Instructions
- Place the soaked dates, avocado flesh, raw cacao powder, almond milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sea salt into a high-speed blender or food processor.
- Blend on high speed for 1–2 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed, until the mixture is completely smooth, glossy, and velvety.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness and chocolate intensity. Add another date for more sweetness or a little more cacao for a deeper chocolate flavor. If the mousse is too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons of almond milk.
- Spoon the mousse into small dessert glasses or jars and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
- Garnish with crushed hazelnuts or pistachios, fresh berries, and a sprig of mint just before serving.
